"Following a lifting injury I was in agony, my torso was visibly twisted and I could not sit down, stand still, drive, or do very much of anything. My GP gave me a choice: a lifetime on prescription painkillers, or risky spinal surgery. Not wishing either of these (the painkillers did not nothing anyway), and in misery through constant pain, I went through a series of expensive and unsuccessful visits to osteopaths, chiropractors and acupuncturists.
Thankfully, I was advised to try Bowen therapy, as I was beginning to wonder how much longer I could tolerate the pain. The very first time, I felt an incredible improvement. I was literally amazed, on standing at the end of the treatment, at the difference it had made.
It took a few sessions to straighten me out, but my GP was proved totally wrong and the problem was rectified without drugs or surgery. I owe my ability to sleep, to work, and to have a life without constant pain,

Sarah O: Severe psoriasis for 17 years.

Mrs Sheila M: Seriously debilitating back pain
Mrs M was formerly a qualified RMN. She traces the onset of her musculo-skeletal problems and pain to a fight between students she'd tried to break up in 1979. She received a hefty kick in her back from a girl wearing steel-toe-capped Doc Martin's. Her GP prescribed 6 weeks' bedrest. Pain was always with her and getting worse. In 1990 she collapsed in agony, consequently spending 6 months in Hillingdon Hospital. She was put in a corset to help her walk. Continuing to deteriorate, she had major surgery in 1981. It was found that she had a fracture to the neural arch of her 4th lumbar vertebrae and a loose lamina which was repaired and removed. The pain eased for a short while, but then became unbearable. Two further operations followed in 1982, but the pain that remained meant she was unable to return to the work she loved.
Mrs M has had many, many years of different treatments at a Pain Clinic, all to no avail. She came to me after reading a feature article in a local newspaper on how Bowen had unprecedentedly helped another client of mine and because I had also suffered and so understood chronic pain. (Incidentally, when she described her pain to a consultant surgeon recently he told her to stop talking nonsense. She was written off as a problem patient.)
When she came to me she was clearly in extreme pain and difficulty. In her own words, "I could not believe how I felt after the first treatment. Pain as I knew it had gone. It was fantastic. Now after 3 treatments, I would like to stand out on the street and shout out loud so people will try this incredible treatment. I now do not wear the corset back support I have needed to for the past 15 years. I feel a different person and my family have said the same. Thank you so much Stephen." Ronak and Vishali
Ronak [15] and Vishali [17] are brother and sister. Both have Cerebral Palsy.
Ronak had extreme difficulty maintaining his balance and walking and needed support.
Vishali is a wheelchair user. Their parents say both have improved by 75 per cent since having Bowen. “Both are much more relaxed and can now take life as fun, rather than as just suffering. They are so much stronger, both physically and mentally. We were amazed to see so many positive changes in Ronak’s condition after just one Bowen treatment and can say that with every session since there has been continued improvement. Ronak is now a typical strong-willed teenager. Top neurologists at Gt. Ormond St. Hospital had told us that both children would never improve and both would be wheelchair-bound for life.
