Back/groin/hamstring pain: 3 treatments
Footballer – male aged 27
Danny had been having recurring problems with his back, groin and upper leg muscles for most of the season. A chiropractor advised him that there was nothing really wrong with his bone structure. Danny’s football physio asked him to try Bowen therapy.
Before starting his Bowen treatment, Danny had only scored 5 goals in 27 games. From starting Bowen treatment until the end of the season, he scored 10 goals in 12 games. Danny said: “In my view, that says it all! I also didn’t miss a game through injury.”
Twisted knee: 2 treatments
Rugby player – male aged 30
A badly twisted knee, suffered in a rugby game, put Dave off the field. He received immediate Bowen treatment and within days felt good enough to try running again. But the knee was still painful, so a week later he received a second Bowen treatment. Following this he was able to return to competition rugby.
Cartilage/ligament damage: 4 treatments
Cricketer – male aged 23
H’s left leg was in plaster following cartilage removal and damage to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). His right leg was in plaster nearly to the knee owing to further ligament problems, and he was on anti-inflammatory tablets. Amazingly, after just four Bowen treatments, the hospital verdict was that the knees were now very stable and that the anticipated operation would no longer be necessary.
Shoulder injury: 1 treatment
Canoeist – female aged 33
Back pain: 1 treatment
Golfer – male aged 28
D had been a keen golfer but was suffering severe back pain. He could not stand for longer than two minutes at a time, and certainly could not play. He met a Bowen practitioner at a dinner some distance from his home so could only have one treatment. Four months later he wrote to the practitioner to say: “Since my treatment I have had little or no pain. I am playing golf regularly again, swinging freely and without inhibition and my handicap is down to one again ... I put my recovery down to Bowen.”
